It is clear after several months of ownership of my new king ranch that Ford wants to be like Tesla, but they simply are not equipped with the software support that is required for modern cars. I have found another glitch that the dealer nor Ford customer service can help with. When my wife was sitting in the driver seat using her profile and the car is running I opened her door to hand her a cup of coffee, and the moment I open the door the car completely forgot about her, and suddenly set everything to my profile, which it must’ve gotten from the key fob. This is crazy. When it set to my profile, the seat went way back, because I am much taller than she, rendering her unable to even touch the petals. There should be a lock on the profile and driver settings when a person is in the vehicle with their key fob using their settings, and the car is running. But unlike Tesla, you cannot actually get a hold of a software knowledgeable support person at Ford. They know nothing and the worst part is I have no way to report this to anyone at Ford so that it can be addressed. When I was driving a Tesla, they would’ve had an engineer call me back within 48 hours and they would push a software solution to my vehicle.

I agree with the Tesla comparison. My 2022 F150 sucks when getting software updates. My boss has a Tesla and the just know how to do it!

That doesn't sound like a glitch, thats more of an oversight of the feature.

It's why buying a car for me these days is pure agony. Too many software problems and the poor dealers are helpless to do anything about it. I say "poor dealers," but I wish they could at least admit they have not clue when it comes to software instead of giving me the run-around.

This. I’m guessing it’s the wrong profile saved to the wrong key. I think you should dig around the saved settings and redo. I will say this.....its very annoying to not have a driver preset button 1,2,3 on the door to push before you get in. I dislike going through the infotainment screen to switch and im not going to have two keys in circulation around my house.

How it was explained, the car did everything it was "intended" to do. Your profile is set to a key p1, as was the spouse for p2. The spouse was in the car, but didnt go nowhere. You opened the door with your key on your person, so it switched the profiles. Computer logic dictates "oh p2 isnt leaving, p1 is here now to take over, switch to p1". I dont own a tesla or an expy to know if the tesla doesn't do this, or if your problem is a one off issue with yours. Def agree, services at dealers are ill equipped to handle the software issues with these new cars. I also think, as fords desired outcome of the profiled keys, the car did its function "as intended."

2024s have their special issues that Ford either won’t, or can’t fix. Anything that relies on the forward looking camera will not work when the camera doesn’t work. I bought mine in May, 2025 and when it went south the dealer said there should be an “OTA” push in July, nope - end of October, nope - now they say by ending March 2026. They are clueless or seems that way to me. I hope you have better luck getting your issue fixed than I have.
