Solution to locked rear passenger door problem

I posted a thread looking for an answer to a stuck rear drivers door. It wouldn’t open from the inside or outside. I looked at the passenger rear door to see where the child lock was and took a piece off 3/4” x 1/8” flat bar stock and bent it to follow the shape of the door up to to hold lock. (I tried a coat hanger but it was too flimsy). I was able to slide the bar into the space between the door and the sill and push down on the child lock button and voila the door opens from the inside. I’ve attached a photo of the bar.

Now I just have to figure out why the door won’t open from the outside.
