ok..not sure if i asked... but...

my RedExpy has 228K... when I am driving.. particularly from 3rd to 4th or OD, there is a shudder that is felt in the drive train... it doesn't do it all the time... about 75%... can't really tell if it is the rear end or not... I think it is.. but wanted to see if anyone has had this problem.. has 3.55 rear in it...

ideas??? i dont know if fluid has been changed and wondered if I should approach that.. maybe the gunk is holding it together... ;)

change the rear end fluid. that will help. if not then the tires could be out of balance. then the tranny needs to be changed. and thats not fun. you take your old fluid, filter it, then reuse it. something like 80%old/20%new.

That would be Torque Converter. If it was the rear end then it wouldnt be doing it at one shift point, it would do it at all. An article i ready about the 4R70W says that this is caused by "a breakdown of the oil/friction material interface" (from Thunderbird and Cougar Club Of America) I would advice you to change the fluid. May not fix the problem but would prolong more major problems down the road.

I have some info

I'm having a similar situation with mine and I thought it was the U joints in the drive shaft but it sounds like what you are describing.
