I don't know if anyone will have chrome roof racks. I asked about this awhile back on whether the '03 and up Navigator chrome roof racks would bolt on.

Oddly enough, the chrome roof racks on the new Navigators look the same in design as the previous generation Navigator. Looks almost like no change. It might be conceivable that the chrome racks from an older generation Navigator might bolt on, but who knows.

As for door edge guards, you can get chrome plastic molds that just press onto the door edge and is held on by an adhesive.

Metal will have a nicer contour though because it's molded to fit the door, but they dent and scratch when actually hitting something. The plastic ones won't.

Just don't get carried away and start chrome stripping every single edge on the truck (doors, hood, lift gate, etc...)

I picked up the chromed plastic door edge guards from Advanced Auto.
Look good. Easy to apply, just press onto door edge. Low cost.

All I need now is the wheel to finish the package. Now where are those tax return checks.

Ritexada - That looks great! I was wondering if they would fit. Are those from the new '03 Navigator or do you know if the previous generation roof rack will fit. Based on looks, the roof rack on the '03 and up Navigator looks the same as the previous generation Navigator. I hope so because then I could check junkyards for old Navigators!

Not yet, will try to get in touch with Brian to see how muc h he has them for and then try to see how difficult it is to get through salvage yard and see if the cost difference is worth the hassle of going through a junkyard or not.

rebel,

sorry it took so long, but I was finally able to use the good weather this weekend to wash the Exby and make it presentable. The door guards are the basic plastic chromed version found in the Advanced Auto parts stores - nothing special. They do though protect the door edges and give some accents....

:)

I believe that the roof rack is from the '03 Navigator. I don't know if the previous navigator racks would fit or not but they do look the same. Call you local Ford Dealer (Parts Dept.) and ask them about this. By the way, the expedition cross bars (bars that go across the width of the roof) will not work with these raised chrome roof racks... you have to use the navigator cross bar system. I have not purchased those yet. Hope this helps.

Darn, so that's four separate parts to purchase along with bolts to affix it to the roof.

Or can you re-use the bolts from the Expedition rack and bolt on the Navigator rack?
