a bit of a stretch on this one, but on older cars I've had hard starting problems caused by old/bad grounds... you take your multimeter, set for DC Volts, one probe on the starter body, and the other probe on the battery minus terminal, while someone tries to start. voltage readings much over a few 0.1V suggest a bad ground, maybe at the starter, maybe at the engine block, maybe at the battery. You can narrow this down by testing voltage from starter motor body to engine block, and engine block to battery - terminal while cranking.

Well, i just got my truck back. As I guessed, they threw up their hands and said they could not get it to act up, so there was nothing to fix. Therefore, I have zero confidence that this truck will start reliably.

This is the second issue they could not fix. The first was air in the heating core. Between Ford’s refusal to own the cam phaser design issue and their dealer not hiring competent mechanics, I have put in an order for a RAM 1500. Hoping this Expedition makes it until the new truck is delivered without having to spend more money on it.
