Had the plugs replaced about 25,000 kms ago. It runs great otherwise. Rather than spending a bunch of money, I guess I'll wait until the next plug change to look at the coils...........thanks for the reply...
A scan tool with the car running may help you get an idea of what is happening. Misfires or O2 sensor readings... Record the info over a period of time to troubleshoot.
I have all kind of ideas but the 09 differs significantly from the 1st gens.
Fairly certain you have throttle by wire so likely no iac valve.
I would suggest looking at the throttle body for any signs of buildup around the throttle plate that could be making it more difficult for the pcm to precisely control airflow at min throttle.
Then the basics. Check for vacuum leaks or leaks in the intake air tubing.
