Sputter

Have to say my 06 5.4 has done the same for about 10 days now. Felt like bad gas so I added a can of Seafoam to a full tank. No difference so I changed fuel filter and filled up with Chevron mid grade. No CEL, no codes with SnapOn Modis. Coils check good. It sometimes shudders coming to a stop. Never stalls. Sometimes runs fine. Occurs at 20-40 mph. Increased throttle seems to overcome the condition. Am bringing to shop tomorrow (4/2/12) . Will post what they find.

Silver:

It could be your idle air control valve needs cleaning/replacing.

Alternatively, a dirty mass air flow sensor; easily fixed by using brake cleaner and letting it dry before reassembly.

Yes, it could be the IAC for shuddering when coming to a stop, or MAF for the 1800-2000K sputter, or somthing completely different.

How many miles? Any mods or recent [major] maintenance? You said "shop" to check on it......paint, body, tires.....?
