Those headphones

I am having problems with my I/R headphones as well. I have a 05 expedition with the stock DVD unit. I upgraded the stock Radio with a Pioneer Nav. system (it is the best!) The headphones have never worked. both Ford looked at it and put in a new unit. Blamed it on the company that installed the Nav unit. They pulled the Nav and reinstalled the stock unit and still no phones. I feel that the next option is to pull the stock DVD and replace it with an aftermarket unit but don't feel this will be economical just so my kid can watch shrek on the next trip...Any thoughts?
