Hi all, I have a strange noise at the front of the engine (4.6 130 K miles) Sounds like loose BB's or a couple of pellets rattling around in the very front of the engine. Seems to come from the grille area. Fan, water pump, Dampener or ?? It is hard to tell exactly. Not, exhaust, egr or manifolds. Not lifter ticks or knocking sounds. Sounds more like a loose pellet flying around, tinking on stuff. The belt looks fine inside and out, no visible dampener damage and is running fine as normal. I have never heard this until winter rolled in and temps dropped below 35. Seems a little worse when cold and sometimes it doesn't do it at all. Getting frustrated.. Anyone else ever have this issue?? Thanks..

Does it go away once the truck is reached normal operating temp?

I had this issue a few weeks ago with my 5.4. I found out that the starter gear was staying engaged while I was driving, it made that weird tinny sound, very faint but annoying. Replaced the starter and all is good
