tire size?!?!?!

hey guys im new here, just trying to figure out the best size tire to go with for my completely stock 99 expy. it does have an air suspension(not hooked up) which im not sure if that affects it. i have heard 33s but also 35s any input would be great!

I run 33's on my truck and it is stock suspension. Really unless you do serious mudding or fight deep snow every year, that size tire will do you just fine. I had 31's before and they did alright in the snow, but these are amazing in the little snow we had this year. If you do want to do 35's, probably will need a 3/2 lift and need spacers to avoid rubbing on the frame. Not sure how it works with lifting air susp, im sure someone will chime in who does.

33,s will do fine but are you staying with the factory wheel? I ran 33,s on a 16x10 with very minor trimming on the lower valence on 2 of mine.

Keep it simple. Run the 33's. Stepping up to 35's without a lift of any kind is asking for trouble. Can it be done. Yes, but how do you feel about taking a 3 pound hammer to the body of your truck? That is what it would take. TRUST ME!!!!! I am fitting 37's with a 4" lift and nothing else. I have had to modify a lot to make that setup work.

Another vote for the 33's. I ran them on my stock suspension before I got my coil spacers and there were no clearance problems.

285/70/17 is what my buddy runs and he hasn't had any problems. I think they are right around 33.5 inches tall.

I run 285/75/16's and when I burn through them I am going to be putting on 315/75/16's. I feel fully confident I can make them fit on stock suspension

I'd stick to 33's. I'm running 315/70/17's at stock height and on stock wheels. The tires rub the frame when turning so spacers are a must (or new wheels) and I had to cut 1 1/2" off the bumper to make them fit.

thanks, im running 275/70/17 right now with no problems at all maybe ill go 285 next time when i buy a new set of tires.

I have 285/70/17 they work fine. the speedo was almost right on so the original 265/70/17 must have been reading higher than actual. I also moved my front air susp bracket and adjusted the rear to give it the most lift with the stock susp.

My expedition is completly stock and my speedo is off about 3 mph.

Soldier, when you step up to the 315's, let me know. I know all the tricks for making the tires fit. How do you think I made my 37's clear. I have been down this road already and ran 35's for a month on my truck with no lift. So, I know where all the rubbing is going to be occurring. The big thing is sticking with 8" wide rims. You step up to 9" wide rims and you are going to have major issues. TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!!
