My 06 torque converter locks upat 40 mph at light throttle. Since it is also in O/D at light throttle this means lockup occurs at about 1100 rpm and the beast is very sluggish until about 45 mph. . It doesn't lug but is very annoying.

Since most local traffic here is in the 35 - 45mph range it's constantly in and out of lockup.

My question is, is this a reprogrammable parameter? I've been getting around it by turning the O/D off for local trips (also annoying). It still locks up, but in 3rd gear at a much more comfortable 1500 rpm. I feel the drivetrain response would be much smoother with a higher lockup speed. I'm thinkin maybe 45 or 50 mph. Dunno where the cam position is at 1100 but suspect that may be why it's so sluggish.

BTW just towed a trailer from NJ to Fla and back, This thing pulls great at 65 - 75 mph but keep gas stations handy.

Your actually supposed to keep your overdrive off in town. The overdrive band can be damaged if not enough load is applied to the band. This was a definite problem on the Aod's used on Mustangs, Thunderbirds, and Lincolns. The band was not wide enough, for the horsepower. That and most shops and individuals didn't use a pressure gauge to set pressure for band. As far as reprogramming the shift points, they say their is a procedure. One of the others can possibly chime in on how, or theirs almost always something online how to.
