Hey All!

I have a 19' Limited with 5 Star Tune and I'm experiencing what I can best describe as a transmission slip when I'm in first going into second, but then I let go of the accelerator and when I go back on it, it feels like the transmission is simply not engaged or I started accelerating during a shift?

Could this be from the Tune or have others experienced this as well? It doesn't happen frequently, but very apparent when it does.

It happens mostly when I'm coming out of a parking lot where I accelerate a little, let off and when I go to accelerate again is when it essentially just revs but doesn't really move.

Any chance the symptoms you describe are caused by traction control intervening? I also have the 5 star tune, and it doesn't take much throttle to get traction control to engage. Traction control seems to be very conservatively tuned. With traction control off, I can accelerate much quicker even without wheel spin. Maybe try deactivating traction control and see if the symptoms persist.

Driving mode can also affect transmission shift patterns. If you are in eco mode, the shifts are pretty lazy.

I'll give TC Off a try, I know it always kicks on as I turn onto my street, it's annoyingly conservative as you say.

Can't you back out the tune and test at stock config to see what it does? If it doesn't do it then its easy to point at the tune being the issue.

Reload your stock tune immediately and do not drive it with the tune. That will destroy your transmission in no time if it’s causing slippage and ford can choose to deny coverage if they find a tune.

It may not be related to the tune at all but either way dump the five star program ASAP.

They can see key cycles and will know instantaneously if you are tuned. Good luck

Do you have experience with the Ecoboost running a tune? Many, including myself, are running the 5 star tune with no issues on the Gen 2 Ecoboost, so I really doubt that's the issue.

No, but I do have experience with automatic transmissions and how they work which doesn’t have anything to do with having a Gen 2 Ecoboost or any powertrain for that matter, not sure why you even bring that up... The 10R80 should not be slipping and operating as such will damage the unit. Running a tune can deny warranty, regardless if it has anything to do with the problem.

Did it ever do that before the tune? Could be gear hunting, maybe you caught it in a downshift and while the computer was thinking, you accelerated, and now it’s trying to finish a downshift while trying to accelerate also. Try a throttle position sensor reset.
