Well, I posted last fall that the transmission in my 2020 Expedition was rebuilt. Just recently I started getting a mild bang when it downshifted from 4th to 3rd gear, especially has a created up to stop lights. I took it back in, and they reset the computer. They said that last year I only put about 200 miles on the adaptive transmission learning feature after the rebuild, and likely that was causing the problem.

They reset and tested it, as did I, and it appears to be working fine, no more pop at 4 to 3 or anywhere else. They suggested getting at least 1,000 miles on before pulling the RV (2511s Rockwood mini lite 5,600lb). We are taking a 1 month trip south in late January, so I'll be able to hit that mark. They actually said 2,000 miles but a least 1,000 miles.

So far the tranny is good. Actually is was pretty good before other than 4 to 3.

So I hope this holds up!

After January mark, would you please give an update about it? My 2024 tranny has a similar problem, "mild bang" from 5 to 3 or 4 to 3. I doubt this is related to how far you drive after adaptive re-learning, because I have cleared the table and forced the transmission to re-learn for several time already, and the "mild bang" is still there when transmission temperature is above 170F. When it is cold, it works silk smooth.

Why wait? The sooner you take it in the more inclined they are to replace vs rebuild. Plus a call to customer care may get you a nice suprise.. (benefit of buying new and having low miles)

I doubt dealership can take any action for it, because there is no any faulty code and it only delivers mild jerky when fluid is hot. And one thing I hate most, dealer always asks me to leave the vehicle with them, and they will get back to me in a certain number of days. Leaving the vehicle in dealer's parking lot might provide some convenience for their service department. But, wtf, am I supposed to walk home and to everywhere in these few days...

Couldn't agree more and then it sits there, cools off, and no telling if they even let it get fully up to temp before road testing, then two days later you get the "sorry, we couldn't reproduce the issue" result. Sounds to me like the valve body issues again.
