Thanks Flexpedition, ya the lights are only for reverse lights. The navigator taillights are nice and smooth but no reverse in them. Didn't want to use a driving light uder the bumper, wanted a stealthy/streetrod style.

after reading Explorer Tom's thread on his 2000 Expedition journey of fixes and mods, I too will stick to the one thread. Great I dea Tom, thank you.


my recent trip to the pick and pull yard finds me in a 2005 dodge caravan,.....inside is an Alpine 10.2 dvd player. Spend 1/2 an hour removing it and pay $25 for it. Bring it home, bench test it, and works perfectly. Go online and see what its worth......WOW on sale at Visions for 699 CDN. Ordered the remote and some odds and ends for $48 with shipping.

the front has a small steel mid part that can be bought cheap new painted steel

I used plastidip on the front and rear bumpers. I didn't want to just paint it cause nothing sticks to chrome. Its holding up quite well, of course washing the bugs off I use a pre soak method and come back and wash them off. To keep it nice and black I use "No Touch" tire dressing, spray it on and wipe it down. I use it on all my black trim it works very well.

U have to scratch the surface on chrome and use a promoter to ensure the paint bonds...ppl paint chrome rims all the time

I have not had too much luck with painting chrome and because it being the front with seeing stone chipping it would be looking like one of those backyard bumper paint jobs in no time. Not saying the plasidip is not going to chip but it will be easier to reapply another top-coat. Did not want to use box liner on it cause the texture is not what I wanted.

today and the last few days I have been on a mission,....... fluctuating speedometer dropping to zero and no forward drive gears when cold. Once warmed up everything works normal.

Spent the day yesterday replacing the gem/fusebox. Connectors for fusebox had corrosion. Thought FINALLY theres my issue. Got it all back together...... nope no speedometer still. Also changed the rear abs diff sensor just for piece of mind......nope, still no luck.

Well, thought I had the issue solved but after 183kms of trouble free hiway and city driving,....my little gremlin is back. Speedo was jumping from 100km/h down to 80 then to 100. Then down to 60 and back up to 100, be ok for a few minutes then down to 20 and up to 80 and slowly bounce around til it ended at zero. Felt the new transfer case and rear end,...warm but all good. This morning went to the wreckers and picked on the same 97 Eddie Bauer Expy and pulled the rear diff sensor on a hunch.

got back, ohmed it out (the brand new one) 1900 ohms, the original one, it too was an after market was 1983 ohms. The one I pulled today as well as an extra both read 1162ohms.HMMMMMMMMM. Still have to road test but my Ford Service manuals say these 2 new aftermarket rear diff sensors are out of spec.

also while at the wreckers, pulled a homelink visor from a 2006 lincoln I think it was an LS 4dr car. Took the visor apart for the homelink, programmed for my garage door opener, yup, it works, now to custom mount it beside the steering wheel. Pictures later on.

Working on the Homelink today. All wired in and works great, this saves me finding a proper sun visor in the wreckers in mint shape with Homelink. Ah plus it looks cool too. Works about 150 feet from my garage. Easy little project that was easy to program to my liftmaster jackshaft garage door opener with rolling code.

Nice placement. I've got one that I pulled from a junkyard and had it installed in my Mariner but it hasn't found a home in my Expedition yet.

do you got the 6 disc cd changer ? you still able to use it with that style radio
