Weird Electrical Issue

Hey, just joined looking for direction or proper search words to find my issue. So to start off I have a 2017 expedition Platinum, with the truck off and door open there is a chime like the key is in the ignition and with the door open i cannot lock the doors with the button. The remote start only begins sequence then horn honks once.

Truck starts fine inside because I thought maybe it was the neutral safety switch on the transmission, the P will not light up orange on the cluster but does on the console. Another thing is when entering the truck the interior lighting is indigo blue no matter if I use door code or key FOB, then when I start it everything goes to the saved color.

Not sure if all these are related but my wife wants the door chime off and the remote start to work. Sorry for the long post, but wanted to put as much information as possible out there.

Try this: Press the Lock button on your remote car starter. Within five seconds of turning it on, turn your key back to the "off" position (or press the start button again). Repeat the on-off cycle three more times—you'll do four in total.

ACCORDING TO GOOGLE: it should reset the remote start.

There was another post on this forum some time ago that had similar symptoms.

The problem was diagnosed as a defective transmission selector floor shift assembly, which was not properly indicating the position of the transmission shifter (under the front console - not on the transmission) to the vehicle computer, although the shifter would engage the transmission. That poster had problems with the chime sounding with the engine off and the door open.

You MAY have two problems - the remote start will not operate if there are any trouble codes present. You may want to have the vehicle scanned for any stored trouble codes.

Thanks, I was looking into it more, and it seems that the floor selector is what is wrong, my 13 mks ecoboost had the dash same as my expy, the P lights up orange on it and not the expy, so I believe that would be where I will start. I seen if its not reading its in park the remote start will not work.
