What's your spare tire tire set up?

Lane you might try craigs list or a tire shop may have a decent used tire that will get you close in height and save you some cash.. just a thought

I know it is part of the frame, so really, it would be at the same height, but now there are three extra inches above between the frame (including the mount) and the body.
Maybe I'm wrong, though...just trying to help out. i was just pointing that out... were all just trying to help

the only problem i have with the tire on the roof rack is these tires are so damn heavy. and to try and throw a muddy flat up on top is just gonna make a huge mess and piss me off!

in some ways i like the roof idea keeps it out of harms way and with a lifted expy parking garages are not an option any ways... my concerns are making it more top heavy then it already is, getting the tire up and down, will the roof of the expy hold the weight of a big tire and wheel???

im sure it would. the wide base of the rack should support it. and i agree, we cant use parking garages anyway so clearance shouldnt be an issue. and top heavy shouldnt be too much of a problem unless you are doing some crazy angles while rock crawling. but just for trails and mud, shouldnt be too much of an issue. but i still couldnt bring myself to have to lug the heavy ass tires up on top. its not easy gettin up there with a screwdriver in your hand let alone 100 lb tire! would be great for jack and shovel and whatnot though.

yeah there is no way i would want to try and put a 37 up top let alone take it down... either myself or the expy would def. get broke.... lol biggest reason I dont have a spare yet is no were to put one... only idea i have had that is using a "hitch-hual" and somehow attaching tire... thought about making a tire carrier similar to DGray but instead of inside make it so it attaches to a hitch or hitch-hual

walnuts, look for a "hitch gate" by wilco. one of the guys on vfo has one on his truck and it looks great. its a swing away tire carrier that goes in your hitch. he said he loves it. plus you can get them to fit a jerry can on there too.

I only four-wheel with buddies or at least one other person(a good habit to get into). So getting the tire off or on is no problem. I have already loaded one on the top using tie downs to secure it in place for a day. It wasn't bad at all.

That hitch gate is really cool. I think that, since I have a body lift, I'll have to cut it up to make it look right. I think it would be a great starting point though.

i was lookin at the spare tire carrier on a H2 very clean and simple pivot on the passenger side and lock on driver side 2 bolts per side and can hold upto a 40 inch tire. would be a nice set up... the local junk yard quoted me $110 for one...
