when i want to accelerate quickley from a stop, i put the pedal down and it lags, then it goes. can anyone tell me what is causing it? i have a 1997 5.4 4x4. it literally takes a second or two to go, fuel pump? sensors?

sounds like your fuel pump is going there bud, I went through the same issue myself and once the fuel pump was changed and fuel tank cleaned I had no issues since then

Do you have a Cold Air Intake? also check both elbows on the PVC valve, they tend to rot and cause a vacuum leak.
As for the cold Air Intake. Mine was lacking alot of power at the low end and mine was caused by my cold Air Intake sucking hot air from the engine compartment, i went back to the factory breather and did the gotts mod and it has seemed to help alot.

strangest thing it was a camshaft sensor, the guy who did my serp belt disconnected it, but i should replace the fuel filter since its a car with a replacement vin number...i think it was a drug runner
