My Exped. has 89K on it, and started to make drive line noise like my old Fords did when it needed a rear axel bearing. All the time increasing with speed from 50 mph weather coasting, excellerating in and out of gear. At first it didn't do it all the time but now it does and now starting @ lower speed of 35 mph. I changed the diff. grease in the rear w/friction modifyer but no luck. It has never leaked or lost grease. But I hear lots of talk about axel noises coming from the front axel hubs that are sealed but often wondered if the other end of the axel (inside) cv joint was the problem (which can be greased). This causes me to believe that maybe that is where my trouble is because when I take off and turn to right and left I now hear louder rumbling or grinding noises like side tire lugg grips are rubbing the road. I can also feel the vibration on the Steering wheel. Can anyone help, as I hear that this may be a common problem?
Does Ford have a bulletin posted on this problem and where could I find it?

Sounds like one or more of you Bearing/Hub assemblies is bad.

That is a brand new tensioner. The system is not even broken in yet. The solution, I believe, is a fixed tensioner. Then all you will hear is the whine. That sound appears to be the spring loaded tensioner loading and unloading.

I have taken it to ProCharger and am trying to get this resolved. I am about to have the two halves of the tensioner welded together if they don't have a solution.

I will post a fix for this problem as I have it. EMAIL sent.

For some reason I cannot open/start a thread. Does anyone know why that might be? I can post replies.

My account says I'm fully registered.

Thanks in advance!

I'm in Clarksville, TN. Bought our 2006 Expedition XLT a year ago, and it's easily the nicest vehicle my wife and I have ever owned. Great for road trips, especially with family in New Hampshire and Florida. Been to see them both and had the best seat in the house the whole way (the driver's seat!)

Haha hey now, Brooten is not THAT middle of nowhere... Its like an hour from me...

What are you looking to do with the truck? Performance, lifting it (or lowering it depending what you are in to), or just leaving it sit and let it go from point A to B?

Welcome to the site.
