I’m moving up from a 2 door, 98 Explorer sport 4.0L SOHC to a 4 door, 2000 Expedition xlt, 5.4L . We knew the Expedition needed work when we bought it.

from Ingleside Illinois this is my 2008 limited have had for 2 months now. love it so far had to fix a couple of things rear wiper and air compressor but runs amazing new tires and wheels new head unit in the works.

Just bought my first Expedition on Friday, a 2015 EL XLT 4x4 with the 3.5 EcoBoost. I've owned a 2001 Suburban (that's been in my family since '01) for 10 years and finally wanted to upgrade my camping/hunting rig. I've driven numerous EcoBoosts, F150s and Expeditions, as rentals the last several years and have been really impressed.
I'll be looking to add Bilstein 5100s sooner than later for a mild lift/level and, more importantly, a better handling ride. I added these to a 4Runner I owned briefly and couldn't believe the difference in handling -- body roll, nose dive in breaking, etc. all much improved...contrarily, even with a lifted ride height.

From Austin Texas living in the New Orleans Louisiana area! Currently have an 03 XLT 4.6 257k miles and a 05 EB 5.4 322k miles! Totaled my 06 EB 5.4 240k miles in Sept 2017! My first one was an 01 XLT 4.6 not a fan had a plug blow out!
Did either of your 5.4’s require a phaser job?
