First question , I have had my Expy since leased new in 2000 and since maybe 6 months after our purchase I noticed the rear power vents started squeaking. I have tried countless times trying to grease up the power arm with WD-40 but it dosent help !! Any ideas ?? Since the weather turned I have been useing them more often and the annoience has become more unbearable ! My second question deals w/my front passenger window. Its' giveing me a groaning noise everytime its rolled down. When you roll is up its still there ,but barely . I was told once that is maybe the fuzzy rubber at the bottom of the window and I should go about useing a silicone spray to lubricate it . Well I decided to test this lubricating theory with some WD-40 and after I sprayed ...ta da ! No more noise ! But the next day the infamous groaning returned. So I guess it is a lubrication problem. Sorry about getting off track but finally heres my ?s . Is the silicone safe to use ? I just dont want to end up with a bigger problem then I started with. and if anyone else has anyother ideas I'm all ears ! Thanks ! JTP

I would not recomend wd-40 for nothing. It will lubricat for a very short time. But it will also remove any lubricant that may be there. I was told one time by a mechanic friend that wd-40 was nothing more than perfumed diesel. We use it hear where I work to degrease our tools. I don't know what type of lubricant would be good but I do know that the silicone based lubricant work good on just about everything. Good luck.

Squeaking cure

Gummipflege. It's a product you get from your local BMW dealership. It's a lubricant/rubber treatment that works great to treat this problem.
