Window trim peeling and a bit rusty

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this:

Drivers side of the Expy I bought (05 Eddie Bauer) with what the buyer said was sun damage from being parked. facing south sun exposure at great lengths.

It's the two tone brown expy, dark brown body with coffee coloured panels. I've noticed chrome window trim on ebay and other places but I'm unsure about buying some slap on kit that:

1. would look weird (maybe not) when I don't have chrome elsewhere.
2. Is it bulky and sticks out?

Any solutions? I called the seller of the chrome stuff and they said they only carry chrome.

Anyone experienced this? It's only on the drivers side, both doors front and rear and I have to consider the number pad on the drivers door.

My dad's 04 does the same thing and I have seen it on several other expy's. Personally what I would do is sand it down and plasti-dip the strips.
