A-Plan
Ford's A-Plan is intended for Ford employees. This is often considered to be the best possible deal out of Ford's discounted Plan offers.

How it's calculated: Invoice - Holdback - Advertising Fee + $275 program fee

Z-Plan
The Z-Plan is identical to the A-Plan but applies to Ford retirees. Since the programs are so similar, they are frequently referenced together as A/Z Plan.

How it's calculated: Same as A-Plan

X-Plan
The X-Plan is actually two programs that equate to a discount for friends, family, and groups with special affiliations with Ford.

The Ford Partner Recognition X-Plan is essentially a supplier discount that members of certain companies that do business with Ford may qualify for.

The Friends & Neighbors X-Plan is a much broader set that can be used by employees and retirees to sponsor purchases by family and individuals outside their family.

How it's calculated: Invoice - 0.4% + $275 program fee

D-Plan
Ford's D-Plan applies to dealer employees and family members.

How it's calculated: A-Plan + $100

I can get a Xplan through my company. How do you get an A or D plan?

I heard the plans allow you to waive the crappy destination fee. True story?

Has anyone used it for a Gator or Expy? Curious of the benefits...
I used A plan on my 2016. Saved me almost $5-6k. Guy I got it from told me it was the A plan so that’s what I told my dealer. She pushed and pushed and pushed the sale on me and I told her I didnt have the A plan PIN number she needed to verify it. She told me to go ahead and sign my contract to finalize the purchase and they finalized it with the A plan price. Turns out, the PIN number was actually for the X plan and since she didnt verify it, the dealership ate the $2700 difference in two plans. She tried to come after me for the money but I told her I had a signed contract and if she pushed me any further I’d file for a breach of contract. She backed off immediately and just dealt with the loss

I used xplan for my Navigator purchase. There was no back and forth at all, told salesman I was a member and the price ended up being $4800 off msrp plus any other rebates or incintives offered from Ford. Knowing that the ‘18’s would be tough to get dealers to budge on it was a good deal at the time. My wife and I are not very talented negotiators and we knew the vehicle we wanted so we were a easy sell. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks! Did you get a reserve? Can't remember what you got...trying to do math based on MSRP...

Just for future reference there are a few ways to go about the negotiations. In your scenario this in an exception because it was a newly released vehicle, but normally you have to remember the dealer wants to sell the truck. It’s their job to meet your requirements to purchase. That means being very firm and even walking out the door when they don’t come low enough *make sure you leave your number with them at some point before you walk away*. Often times you’ll get a call back and they will come down... especially if someone has a end of the month quota to meet. there are always more vehicles than there are buyers and they WANT no NEED to move them. A lot of people look at it the wrong way and think that you need the dealer, in reality there are dozens of dealers and they need you, just remember you have a lot of power when you walk inside.

I ordered mine. I offered dealer invoice and they took it. I also got the incentives which amounted to 2K. So I ended up paying 2K less than invoice. It was easy and took a few minutes. I figured out what I wanted to order in advance and used Edmunds to get the invoice cost.

Breach of contract, but you kinda misled the dealer.

My problem is I know all this and I go in there with my ‘I’m not paying too much for this car’ face on but often I wear down too easy. Usually after all the research, driving different vehicles, choosing options we are just ready to be done. The cost isn’t prohibitive and time is money. Ordering vehicles doesn’t help either since you have to add that wait as well and the fact that having ordered you’re willing to pay a little more for exactly what you want. Thankfully we don’t buy but once a decade lol I’m better when it comes to selling a car.

If Ford ever gets around to building my rig, I'm going to use the supplier X-plan to buy it. In theory, I could wait 'til the end of the month/quarter and haggle with some dealer desperate to meet their quota. In reality, what we wanted was rare as a hen's tooth and x-plan lets me order exactly what we want and pay ~invoice less whatever incentives are available when it arrives.

Yeah this really takes the option of walking out the door off the table. We felt that if we were going to spend the money we wanted exactly the car to fit our desires, this usually means ordering, especially when the model just went through major redesign. What’s a couple grand over 8-10 years when you get to pick out exactly what you want and not galavant all over looking at different dealers and walking out doors haha.

No I didn’t, I had never used a plan before and I was told by the guy I got the code from it was the A plan. I didn’t know any better. They are 100% at fault for not checking themselves before rushing me to make the purchase

I tried to get the Xplan pricing on my Navigator, but the dealership told me it wasn't available. Sucks to now see that other people were able to get the discount applied.
