Ok I always thought raising my shift points on my 03 would be great, I guess I'm dead wrong... from the 1st to 2nd shift at 5300 rpm i believe it is there's just a god awful screech from the belt I guess from the engine losing so much speed too high and from just in park or when I'm taking the car manually from 1 to 2 at 5500 I'll hit red line. Red line at 5500?!?! If I wanted it that low I'd just get a diesel you know?

Anyway my question is, even though the hp and tq curves meet at approx. 5200 and the hp curve is only starting to taper off is it the best shift point? or should I go lower?

The screech is the belt slipping. Did you firm up the shifts? Getting a Gatorback belt from an autostore solves the problem. In the meantime, you're not hurting anything.

As for shift points, mine are at 5200-5300 (can't remember for sure.) That way it won't hit redline by the time it shifts.

Also, from what I understand, it's not good to be manually shifting from 1-2. Something about too much shift pressure, or something.

I hardly ever do manually shift, but it will chirp the tires when i do, but as for the shift points somethings seriously wrong because my 0-60 time is 9.86, sure theres about .5 seconds maybe because I couldn't get a good launch but thats about what a stock expy should have with the 5.4, so somethings got to be wrong there

Hah, I think that's what I pull with my 4.6L. Are you using 93 octane?

Just did the perfomance tune with the cortex. I didn't adjust the shift points past what the superchips settings were. I like it a lot more than before, no soft mushy shifts any more.

If I'm floored from a dead stop I get the belt squeak at shifts 1-2 and 2-3. I dont plan on doing that much with my 35's though heh. I'm just glad my speedometer is acutally accurate now.

I'm actually running a blend of 100 and 93 1:3 so about 95 or 96 on the 91 octane setting, I'm just going to take it down a notch or two because it just doesn't like to shift in the right places even not at WOT

Also the superchip's setting for any performance tune would be 20+ psi shift pressure and 500+ rpm shift points, I found that one out on the flashpaq forum.
