Hi all, will post a snap of my motor soon, in the meantime I have this following problem.

Model is XLT (late 2011 5.4L petrol) only 30,000 plus miles on the clock.

When I start the motor first thing in the morning it sounds like a tank (diesel engine) starting up then after about 2 seconds it sounds normal. Drives ok for about 30 miles then I will feel the car missing every now and then. Any ideas, I know its a long shot, hope to get to garage soon to have checked out.

Appreciate any info that might help me out.

Regards

CEL is the check engine light

When the engine computer (pcm) detects something isn't right it will put a code into memory and turn the cel on. Mechanic will connect a code reader or scanner and retrieve the code(s).

Missing is typically a spark plugs or coil issue.

Noise on startup seems to be common until the timing chain tensioner fills with oil pressure again.
