    Random engine shutoff

Well that certainly doesn't sound fun (or cheap), but this seems to address every issue I've had. Thanks to you and Trainmaster both -- I'll have to get in there and check the relay & fuse box.

    Random engine shutoff

So my 2004 EB has been giving me some grief for several months. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, or whether I'm sitting still or driving at any speed -- the engine will just shut off. Sometimes it sputters first, like it's not getting gas, but usually it just flat-out dies. The ONLY way to get...

How many miles on your 2nd Gen Ford Expedition?

    Just turned 161,000 last month.

I really like Expedition, but the terrible suspension is getting to me...

Frankly I despise the modern trend of giant 20-22" wheels and thin, worthless tires. Nothing evens out a ride like a nice, beefy tire with a decent sidewall.

Considering a 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer

Looks identical to my 2004 4x2 Eddie Bauer. I bought it in September 2017 at 146,000 miles for $4200 and just turned 160k this month. Other than a few road trips in the springs & summers, she doesn't get driven much, since I live very close to work & family. Just about everything on the truck is...

    2021 Escalade pics

Honestly, depending on the model & manufacturer, anything under 100k miles is low enough for me. I drive maybe 9,000-10,000 miles per year. Also, I'm really looking at a 3/4-ton pickup for my next daily driver, and most of those engines run for hundreds of thousands of miles, if you take care of...

What vehicle did you take your driving test in?

My mother's navy blue (with the woody graphics on the sides!) 1986 Plymouth Voyager. It was the smallest vehicle we had, for the parallel parking part. Dad drove a full-size Chevy conversion van and we had a 1969 Chevy C-10 farm truck. :)

    2021 Escalade pics

Honestly, every major brand SUV and pickup from the past 5 years (at LEAST) have done nothing but convince me that my next vehicle will be used, low miles, and at LEAST 10 years old. You can still work on them yourself, there aren't a million sensors and sensitive electronics mucking things up...

Keep my wife in your prayers and thoughts

Yeah, this is totally a ******** thread. Some people will do anything for attention.

What happened to choice in America

The thing that bugs me a lot (beyond everything mentioned so far) is that cars are all the same colors now. Black, white, a couple levels of Gray, 1 or 2 Reds and 1 or 2 Blues. Occasionally you see Greens and even Brown. And what's worse is that if you want a certain color beyond those, it's...

    Weird leak, please help!

I had a similar problem on my old Avalanche, and it was just like Hamfisted said -- there was a gasket leak and the coolant was going out via the exhaust, which is why I could find no evidence of a leak. I had to refill the coolant every 2-3 weeks, depending on mileage driven.

The 5.4L 3-valve "mileage vs symptoms" thread!

Wonder what the ticking sound is, then... I only hear it when the driver's window is open, or BARELY if I don't have the fan running. I've tried switching from 87 to 89 octane but it hasn't really changed.

    Black windshield/wiper cowl

Yeah, that's where I am now. I take pride in keeping it clean & maintained, but at the moment I've got very little after paying the bills every month. $128 just isn't in my budget. I put the broken piece in one of the cupholders -- if we get a warm day yet this month, I'll probably try to...

    2019 SEMA show Ford Expeditions

I love the black one, pretty much don't like the other two... the seats in the black one are awful, though. The other two look too Euro. Skinny-ass tires that can't possibly absorb the punishment they'll get on the average rural American road.

The 5.4L 3-valve "mileage vs symptoms" thread!

I know mine's a 2nd-gen, but it still has the 5.4L Triton, so... 2004 Eddie Bauer 2WD Bought it in 9/2017 with 146,000 on it, now has 159,000. I have the oil changed every 3-4 months. Issues: I hear a slight ticking on the driver's side when accelerating. This is my first Ford, so does...
