We have a 2001 expedition every once in a while it suddenly would not start with the ignition. We had to jump it from the solenoid with a screwdriver to start it,. Then for a while it would start like normal again. The other day we changed the starter solenoid,. Ever since all of a sudden the overdrive light is always flashing and will not accelerate in drive,. Just ramps up rpms and barely moves.

What would cause this from changing the starter solenoid?

Thanks.

Welcome to the site. The "starter motor relay" as Ford calls it has 3 hot wires and a case ground according to the wiring diagram. The two heavy gauge wires are to power the starter and the smaller wire is the trigger for the relay. Doubt that has anything to do with the trans issue - check the fluid level.

One thing to check is the connectors on the pcm if you moved any of the harnesses putting the solenoid in.

You need to get the codes read. A flashing OD light indicates transmission problem Dont use the truck for the meantime.
