Welcome to the Forum. Did you have an Expedition prior to the 2017?
The reason I ask is I am looking for 2017 Owners that used to have 5.7L Expys.
My 2003 is in the shop to replace the heater core so they gave me a 2017 loaner to drive. I thought it had a V8 until I heard some sounds that would not be from a V8 and when looking for trouble lights on the dash I noticed how high the tach went and the light bulb went on that it had to be a V6 with a supercharger or a turbo. Then I learned it had an EcoBoost with twin turbos.
Now for what might be the good part. Twice a week I drive to our rental properties in the mountains and on two of the hills on the Interstate doing 75mph the 2003 gets to a point where it has to drop a gear with the tach going from 2200 to 3000rpm and about 200 yards from the top it has recovered from dropping down to about 73mph and is back to 75 again at 2200 rpm. Both trips this week with the 2017 it just stayed at 75mph and the tach didn't change (which I thought was odd since these are real grades). I didn't notice the tranny shifting either. Now I know the 2017 has a 6 speed and my 2003 has a 4 speed. I have all kinds of ideas spinning around from better cruise control interfacing with the turbo engine and 6 speed tranny, but has anybody else noticed this or have an explanation? I keep my transmission serviced so I am hoping the 2003 is not doing this because of a slipping tranny (I'm almost sure it always downshifted but its has been 14 years).
Also looking for feedback on towing 2003 V8 versus 2017 EcoBoost as I will not be able to tow anything during my week with the 2017 loaner.
If this is to much and seen as highjacking this tread, please move it to where it should be.
