    Productive Day today

Right! I finished up the work on the Expedition, then went to fire up the grill. Bad idea. The temp dropped about 30 degrees in am matter of an hour, and the wind was nasty.

I did some things over the past few days

I just did my Overhead console today as well. Pretty easy....if you take your time. As far as the "Brown wire Mod" is considered, what exactly does that do? Do you have a link that you can post? I've heard of it, but when I do a search, it brings up a long list of posts mentioning it, but I...

    Overhead Compass and Temp Problem

This forum is great! I'm always impressed by the knowledge that I find here when I have an issue. My 2002 overhead console display is out and this should be the fix I need. Thanks everyone.

97 XLT 5.4 Starts, revs high, then dies

Hello everyone, I have a 97 XLT with the 5.4L with 183,000 miles. I installed all new coils (Accel) and plugs about 30-35K miles ago. Yesterday I drove the truck all over, about 100 miles, and everything was fine. Today I tried to start it and it started, revved high, some where around 4K RPMs...

    Tire recomendation.

I am running Cooper Discoverer ATR tires. Stock size (for now) 265 /70/ 17. Great tire. Quiet on road, good off road. Not real aggressive, but enough for light off-roading. Cheap enough, about $150 per tire. I have about 12,000 miles on mine and they still look brand new...

    Need some exhaust suggestions

If I delete the rear cats, will that case any emissions issues? Are the rear o2 sensors still in use? I think I would like to do true duals for the most power and sound. What did it cost you to get that done?

    Headers on my 98 5.4L

I bought shorty headers from summit last year and they came with new studs. Your's didn't? Maybe cause you bought them off ebay? Call summit directly, the studs should be pretty cheap. As far as installation, PAIN IN THE ASS! Take the wheel and tire off and the inner fender well, grab yourself...

    Same old problem--hesitation and stumbling

FINALLY!!!!!! So after driving the truck for 3 weeks with the hesitation and stumbling and bad accelleration, the check engine light finally came on and it threw a code for the #6 cylinder misfire. I replaced the coil ----again, and all is fixed..........so far. It's been fine for a couple days...

    Sub box info?

The size of the sub box depends on the subs you put into it. Each sub has a specific amount of air space inside the box that it needs to function properly. It also depends on what kind of box that you want. Sealed box will give you nice tight bass, where as a ported or bandpass box will give you...

    Ignition Coils

I have a 97 XLT 5.4. Just did all new coils and plugs a couple weeks ago. I would replace your plugs at the same time you do your coils. Might as well while you've got it apart. I don't know if coils from a newer expy will fit the 97s, but I bought a set of 8 new coils off ebay for $90. Better...

    Cleaning the throttle body

Can someone explain to me if I can or cannot clean the throttle body and the the best way to do so? I bought a can of throttle boby cleaner, took apart the intake, and found the sticker on top of the throttle body that says "not" to clean it because it is coated with a sludge resistant material...

    Same old problem--hesitation and stumbling

I have a 97 XLT. I have been having all the same problems as you guys. I have replaced all the coils and plugs, fuel filter, o2 sensors and I have cleaned my MAF sensor. I have also replaced the pcv valve, tube, and elbow. Last year, I replaced the egr valve, egr tube, and exhaust manifolds. I...

    Changing coils and plugs

Accaording to my Haynes repair manual, which I have become very familiar with lately, the proper torque specs for the spark plugs are as follows: 2002 and earlier models ------ 84 to 168 in-lbs or 7 to 14 ft-lbs 2003 and 2004 models ------ 15 ft-lbs 2005 through early 2008 models----- 25...

    '99 expedition fuel system problem

The miles to empty gauge is really just a guesstimate of what your fuel economy will be. If you drive with a heavy foot, you may go 12 miles yet the gauge will take off 20 or so. Take it for a drive on the highway. Do the same thing you have been doing. Reset the trip log, take note of how many...

    expo having trouble running

Could be....... But it sounds like it may have run fine before you connected the exhaust. My bet is that the cats are plugged. I was just checking prices on cats on Summitracing.com and saw some magnaflow ones for around $80 a piece.

    Changing coils and plugs

Titus, mine is doing the exact same thing. This weekend I am replacing the o2 sensors. I have already replaced all the plugs and coils. Also, try to clean your MAF sensor. Sometimes the oil from the air filter gets on it and causes weird sh*# to happen. Rough idle, hesitation etc.

    expo having trouble running

Under the hood fuse box-- position #19-(top left)- fuel pump fuse -20 amp. Fuel pump relay, position #4 (right side, 3rd from top). If the truck runs and will restart, I doubt that it is the fuel pump, relay, or fuse. Check the pcv valve and hose and elbow that goes to the Idle air...
