    Freshen Her Up

I've got a 2000 XLT which has been sitting idle in my driveway for about 1.5yrs since I picked up an FJ. My love affair for the FJ has run its course, so I thought I'd get an F-150. But, then again I thought I'd just plow some money into the Expy and save from having car note for another 4-5...

2000 Ford Expedition 4.6L XLT My odometer was fading then went out, so I did the "solder this connection" fix per this and other web sites. Not too bad of a job for someone with little skills. The odometer worked when I started it up. It went out after a while - but seems to...

Liftgate and Back Window - option for Courtesy Light

I'd like to be able to flip a switch that allows/disallows the courtesy light to come on when either the Liftgate or the Rear Window are opened. Can anyone help me with what wire to splice and insert a switch? Sometimes it's nice to leave the window/liftgate open for the breeze, but I don't...

While it's "On the Rack" what else would you recommend?

2000 XLT 4.6L 2WD 200,800 Miles I've had this "tick, tick, tick...." for many months. I took this into the mechanic that works on my F-150. I trust him. I asked him to listen to the engine and tell me what he thinks. He suspects the Timing Chain Tensioner is shot and that the...

    H E L P - I'm locked out of my Expy !

Locked Out - I found a Solution I crawled under the truck, and connected jumper cables to: Positive lead on Starter Ground to Chasis Other end of jumper cables connected to the battery of my truck. This gave sufficient energy that my code unlocked the door. Battery was...

    H E L P - I'm locked out of my Expy !

Stupidly, I left my keys in my truck last night. The truck wasn't running, but left the ignition switch in the "ON" position. This must have drained the battery, because when I finally "found my keys" (after looking for them for over an hour) this morning, I couldn't open the door using my...

Roof Rack Information Thread 1-3 Generations

1st Gen Expy - Curt Roof Rack Mine is the Curt Roof Rack. With the extension this is 62x37. I'd prefer a wider one, but I was in a hurry and settled. NOTE: I pulled off the front wind foil (I'm sure that's not the correct term for it) and it is more quiet without the foil than with it...

Here it is .... My 1st Gen with Larger Tires and Off Road Lights

Ranch Hand I found it on Craigslist for $200. Actually, it's the second one I found on Craigslist for $200, but the first one I bought (and it is sitting in my garage) does not fit my Expy (grrrr... Craigslist). I took the "right" one to a Trailer Hitch outfit here (Houston) and they...

Here it is .... My 1st Gen with Larger Tires and Off Road Lights

Thank you to all who helped with great recommendations. Special thanks to Thermo - the wiring suggestions and recommending weld tabs on the rack were invaluable. Things learned from this experiment: I never knew how to solder - that was pretty easy once I got the hang of it. I can't...

    2000 Expy - 2WD - 33" tires are barely rubbing

I'm making my first modifications to this stock '00 Expy ( XLT ), 2WD. I found what I thought was a good deal on Eagle Alloys rims and 33" BF Goodrich A/Ts. However, on the front there is just the slightest of rubbing when I cut the wheels hard. I could shave a bit of the plastic that's...

    Tires - Stock 2000 4x2 4.6L Expy

I have 16" rims on my Expy. Without any lifting or leveling, can I safely put 285/75-16 on my vehicle? If my research is accurate these would be just slightly less than 33" tires. If not without lifting/leveling, what is the minimum amount of body lift I need for these? I'm reaching...

2000 Expy - Advice on Wiring Lights

The Simple Ideas are the Brilliant Ideas Thermo, Thanks for the great advice on different colored wiring. That is a fantastic idea. Can you confirm that on my switch panel I can tie-in the four switches to the master switch. That is, have only the Master wired to a 12v source and then...

2000 Expy - Advice on Wiring Lights

Updated Drawing Thermo, I found a fatal flaw in my diagram. On my Master switch I didn't have a "load" going anywhere. I had all of the other Switches powered via the 12v source to which I wired the Master. The attached has the fix (correction is shown in the green wire). Am I...

New pics with the 5th wheel

Roof Rack I'm trying to find a way to lower my roof rack. I have a 2000 Expy XLT with stock roof racks. Currently the rack is "resting" on and mounted to the front and rear "main beams" (I have no idea what to call them). I've seen others mounted on hardware that connects to the rain...

2000 Expy - Advice on Wiring Lights

Thermo - thanks for the advice I don't weld, but I found a welder nearby. He's going to weld 12 tabs ( 4, 3, 3, 2) to my basket rack. I bought 20 tabs for a total of $3.40, and he's going to charge me only $60 to weld. I feel happy about it. Please comment on my suggested plan of attack...

2000 Expy - Advice on Wiring Lights

Disconnect Location - Suggestions for Mounting the Lights DJ - thanks for the tip. What I was planning on doing was running one bundled/loomed set of wires down one side of the rack and behind the Lift Gate. Then, somewhere in the lift gate area I'd put the disconnect. Thus, allowing me to...
