If you use those strap on mirrors, be sure to leash then to your existing mirrors with some string. I almost lost one on the highway and use the leash just in case.

I havent replaced the air filter....now that I think about it I should try to drive it without the filter just for a minute to see it that is an issue..it didnt look...

Im wondering if this whistle is my issue? I idle at a steady 600rpms..no hesitation. When in gear, and accelerating, at around 1200rpms I get a whistle that my passengers -and myself- think sounds...

Stupid Pepboys replaced my t-stat about a year ago due to no heat - even tho I already replaced it....I figured what the...
I used a 2nd jack to push the box wrench "up" while the backhold wrench was in contact with the ground to loosen the bolts....took alittle time but it worked.
I also cut the old arm in half with a sawzall to take the pressure off the bolts to remove them easily.
I had to sawzall the right front...
Pass-side trailing arm broke in half...drvr-side holding on by threads.....found it when I got under pass-side to investigate rusted out muffler......
I got the pass-side arm off --I used 1/2" sockets/ratchet with extension pipes (persuaders) on the handle to remove the 'PB Blasted' nuts...
Hi everyone.. 02 expedition - 4R70W without aux cooler. My cooler line(s) thru up atf fluid so i decided to replace both lines. I made a note of which line went where but with a delay (snow, rain & working) of installing new lines (coiled brake line I bent and flared to fit...with a flared...
well I got the codes scaned.....1- some battery issue and 2- something about cop E....I was really bumbed as I didnt have any code relating directly or indirectly to the trans....so I didnt bother having them print out the results
So I thought I would check out the #5 (abcd E-1234 5) COP...
My ABS light is on as well.... and it is braking weird... not as it normally would.
I didn't think this was related...but in reading up on the electronics of the trans, I see that rear ABS sensor is another input signal related to the trans and PCM. ???
Yeah.... There was a coating on the magnet as well as the pan.
I'm thinking / hoping it's electrical.... There was no warning... It drove fine and all of a sudden it began to slip. Reverse is fine- no problem going into reverse. It will eventually shift into all the gears, but it seems to me...
I dropped the pan. There was a coating of grey gunk around the magnet and the pan. Like it was dipped in thin grey paint. Is that considered a bunch?
I replaced the filter and cleaned the mag and pan with brake cleaner.

Hi everyone. I have an issue with my transmission. I have an 02 expy xlt 4.8 with trans code U....I think that is the 4r70w?? 198K miles.
When I drive I have to fineese the trotlte in order to get the trans to shift to the next gear. It revs like its in neutral and sometimes when I let off...
i had intermittent low oil pressure issues. When I dropped the pan I also found chain guard plastic pieces at the screen as well. Not to concerned with the chain guard breaking up. Shes a 2nd vehical with 200K miles. I just use her to get back and forth to work... 10 miles round trip.
I dropped the oil pan and found the pick up screen all gunked up. That took all day to drop. Now I gotta remove the tube/screen and clean it all out. The pan add well. Then replace the oil filter. I'll be doing several 500 mile oil changes... Maybe 4 or 5 just to make sure it all gets flushed...
Well the tires are all good....
they showed me that my left wheel moves side to side.....
grabbing it at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock it will move a lot...not tight at all.... about 4" of play
they said lower tie rod....I know of inner and outer tie rods....maybe they meant lower ball joint?

I definitely feel it in the steering wheel....when I let go of it, it looks like a ghost is moving it left and right in sync with the shimmy.
Ill take the old girl back to Discount Tire where I bought the tires -and the extra tire protection- and Ill have them take a look.

Last week while driving up to Wisconsin my 02 expy 4.8 187K developed a shimmy in the front end....
at 40mph it will shimmy slightly
at 50-55 it will shimmy more
at 60-65 its even worse
at 70+ it so bad I dare not go faster.
but, when i move the steering wheel...
