    The leveling sensor is quite common yes and will disable the system. The left rear is a little low because of the left front yes I have been thrown by that before. Best way is to check the voltage of the level sensor with a scan tool while manually moving the sensor arm up and down slowly.

    Yep you are correct but it seems on these they come apart as shown before the actual roller bearings get pits in them which causes the hum, explorers are the worst for the hum.

    They can make noise before 1200 rpm but what you are talking about sounds like the vct solenoids which are common enough.
