    2017 -120,000 mile report

Bought new in 11/16, I build high performance 2 stroke engines as a hobby so I'm pretty well versed in most engine related issues and how to keep them alive. I buy my own oil and have the Grease & Go change it for me for 30-40 bucks. I used the Ford syn 5-30 until 60K then switched to the...

How to remove factory front rotors

Hope this helps those who have never done it. The factory stock rotors are not drilled for removal bolts as the new ones are. After watching You Tubes where the best advice was "Hit it with the biggest hammer you've got", I went back to proper mechanics. There are those that will tell you to...

    100,000 miles......best expy of the 3

I recently posted my first "broken thing", a console hinge spring. Every single other part that isn't maintenance, is original to the truck....or as original as the body shops could make.....3 accidents in 4 yrs Deer, Dumptruck, pickup truck....can't they see WHITE???? (LOL) 100,000 miles, 2275...

97,000 miles; update(save yourself time, it still runs perfect).

Turned 97,000 as I rolled out of my local shop last Friday after replacing the original tires which had been rotated only 3 times in 97K. Replaced with same Hankook tires, now the Dynapro AT2. It was it's first time on a lift....replaced rear brakes at the same time(front pads were done 10k ago...

    Buying oil.....

I run 0-40w Mobile 1 in both my truck and my little car. As many of you know, it's not cheap but 5.10 a quart is a pretty good price. Walmart will ship me 2-5 qt containers (free shipping over $35) for less than 51 bucks.....yeah, I'll let them bring it to me. Both fleabay and Mr. Bezos were...

    81,000 miles and counting

I'm taking next week off for Christmas and since I've noticed a bit of hunting in the throttle for the past couple of months, I'll replace the plugs. From what I've read and how it's running, I expect them to be a bit rough. Debating on replacing the COP's too....shit, for a hundred-fifty bucks...

Anything special about tire monitor sensors in a '17?

My trucks cornering ability necessitates the replacement of the original oem tires at a mere 77K. I'm thrilled to announce that one of my pressure sensors has just failed over the weekend, I thought due to colder temps.....but after finding all at 27.5, I reset them to 35psi in the rear and 32...

Anyone else seeing rust on rear door seams?

We got back from vacation Saturday and Sunday we washed my truck....ok, for the first time in well over a year(it's a truck). Anyway I found that overall the paint is holding up extremely well. 2 road nicks in 73,000 miles isn't bad. I don't count my "operator-errors" like rubbing against the...

Ecoboost a Beast in the Mountains!

Kerry and I recently got back from a trip to the Smoky Mountains and my truck was a beast....ok, it's only a couple thou feet high but still, lots of hills.....and 18.8mpg for the 1,800 mile trip overall. I showed Kerry how well the Expedition, all 6,000 pounds of it drifts around the turns on...

    Mileage since new '17 Expy-67K

FWIW: I've kept one of the odometers as a record of "mileage since new" since about 4 miles outside the dealer after buying my truck. It just moved this morning from 18.2 to 18.3.......this is total average mileage since I bought the truck. Not bad for a nearly 6,000 pound truck. jeff

Enterprise Rental for this wreck is a ........wait for it.....

This time they gave me a '18 GMC arcadia- jet black. 193HP, 2.5L, 3.87 gears....this seems fairly nicely equipped but I haven't opened the glove comp to look for the sticker to see "the sheet" info. Now understand that no matter how "objective" someone including me sounds; Every single facet of...

Unfrickin...ah well, all is going to be okay......ahhhhhh

Yeah, I woke at 1am wondering what woke me since I still felt very drugged from the sleep med...as soon as I lifted my arm I was reminded, "I got hit by a truck" yesterday. Yup, rear ended by a Sierra king cab. Heck, I JUST got my truck out of the truck hospital a month or so ago! Anyway...

    Who here is a professional?

As some of you know, I don't generally drink anymore. I will have a beer or a rum/coke on vacation or a wedding or party but I generally don't b/c I hate drugs that affect motor coordination. This past Saturday, Kerry and I went to a St. Patricks party with friends. We stopped to get the host a...

2017 Expy compared to a 15K Armada rental

I got a 15,000 miles Armada as a rental while my '17 is in the truck hospital so of course, I've got to compare the two. Now that I've driving it 150 miles or so, I'll post my impressions. Hat's off to Enterprise for not sticking me with a pos Santa Fe again! The armada is nicely optioned and...

    No breaks for you jeffrey......

Sometimes, we just need to look at a period of time in our lives and just admit, "that sucked". I COULD feel this way about the last 2 weeks but I don't. Let me elaborate....get comfy guys.... After finding the floor in one of the 3 full baths in my home crumbing under the toilet, I pulled the...

    Finally, after 2+ years...snow!

I finally got a chance to drive my truck in a few inches of snow...7-8 here in Southern MD. I stayed home yesterday to let the State take care of the roads but on the way to work this morning, I took a detour through one of the larger parking lots here by work. It was pretty anticlimactic in...

    Timing, very bad timing.......

No, not the iggy type, but life timing. For some reason which I cannot even justify to myself, I just spent 8 weeks in the Stock Market. It was one of those bucket list things like “Online gambling” or Parasailing. I’m not a gambler but last year I chucked up 50 bucks and began betting on the...

    The last tenth......

When I glance at the various threads in the repair sections of the forums I belong to, it dawned on me that 90% of the costs of a lot of these repairs are due to trying to get "the last 1/10th. When guys race, we all start out giving nine tenths. Don't misunderstand this...we are all...riders...

Where are the check vlvs & solenoids for the front wheels?

Guys, For a week or so it's felt like I'm feeling the "odd grinding" from the front wheels when taking off, especially when cold. It might be the cooler weather exasperating a borderline issue? Can you guys tell me where to find the check valves and solenoids for the 4WD system for the front...
