Hello all. This is my first post on this forum. I have a 2007 4WD Eddie Bauer with 81.5k miles. I bought it used in February and had a third party mechanic do a once over to give me some piece of mind. Recently, the transmission has started to shift into 1st very hard when coming to a full stop. I had the HyperTech Max Performance tune installed, but have since removed it. It does not appear that the tuning was the cause of the problem because the hard shift has continued. I saw on another forum to disconnect the battery overnight causing the computer to reset. Is this a good method for correcting this problem? Any help will be appreciated. Thank You.

Are you talking about a "bump" like you got rear-ended right before you come to a stop?
If so there is a TSB for that.

TSB # 08-22-7 Driveline bump when braking.

May have to bring it to the dealer for a reflash.

I know this is a necro, but is there anymore data on this?
My Expy is out of warranty and I don't want to take it to the dealer if I don't have to.

TIA.

Had to search Google for what a necro is. Well done.

I can tell you disconnecting the battery is a pointless waste of time due to the way data is saved on 07+. The reflashing TSB referenced calls for 1 hour of shop time, so probably looking at $80-100. Most independent garages do not have the Ford software needed unless they are Ford specialists. Even then, I'd prefer dealership.
