Hello all. First off, I'm a new guy on here. Been reading a lot of good information on your posts, and want to thank everyone for help. (Even though you didn't really know it)

I picked up an 01 Expy, EB, 4X4 for next to nothing. (69k on it, bought it for 6k) Truck is in great shape too. I have found a few things wrong with it, so since I'm posting in the Audio section, I will post my audio issue.

Basically, there is no low end in the truck. Everything is high and mid-range noise. I originally thought it was just the sub amp, and bought a replacement off ebay. swapped in the new amp, and still no low end.

So, my question is, is there something end I can try, so that I can get some bass in the truck?

Thank you for your help.

Have you looked at the actual subwoofer? I had the same problem in my '99 EB with the Mach audio system. I had absolutely no bass when I got the truck. After a lot of digging around online, I learned that these systems will disable the bass to avoid damaging the amps if the sub is blown. I checked and also wasn't getting any power out of my sub amp so I thought it was bad as well (I knew the sub was blown and had ordered one from Boston Acoustics). I had even gone so far as to call the repair company Ford uses for their audio equipment to see about having it fixed. I decided to wait until the new sub came in and as soon as I hooked it up, everything worked perfectly.

I bought a cheap Boston Acoustics on Ebay and it sounds great. It was only $65 and free shipping. Here's a link to one of the listings.

BOSTON ACOUSTICS G108-4 8" SINGLE 4 OHM SUBWOOFER 200W | eBay

Keep in mind that it's not a direct replacement and will require some work to make it fit. The factory enclosure is molded black plastic with a hump used to mount the factor sub to the box via a bolt through the back. You will need to remove the entire enclosure to replace the sub, and the new sub won't fit with that hump in the way. I used a hot air gun to heat the plastic enough to push the hump down flat with a block of wood, and then taped over the bolt hole with duct tape on both sides. I think most people just cut the hump off and plug the hole with sheet metal and caulk. There are several threads on this board about how to replace the sub. It's not hard, but does require some time and work.

Not a problem. Hopefully yours is as simple as mine was to fix. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

Yeah I would go aftermarket and you could still use the stock location with a few mods but if space ad budget is a none issue the lows can come to you with ease lol
