blower question

I have a quick question about the blower vents on my 09 expy. When you have the controls set to just blow air on the floor, does anybody still have air blowing out of the little vents above the regular dash vents? I originally thought that I only got air through there when I had the defroster on, but I get quite a bit of air coming out of them when it set to just be on the floor.

I have noticed a similar effect on my rig. I believe automakers do this so the windows will not fog up
