I use a thule rooftop carrier and a hitch carrier when needed. We do a lot of long haul driving and with 5 of us total we usually have to bring a bunch of stuff.
My hitch rack has a 45° up slant that raises my rack about 6 more inches that a regular flat rack. Helps to keep the stuff back there not to dirty, and gets it a bit higher away from the road heat.
I have 2 large plano bins that i usually keep camping stuff in.
