Lifted the 07 EB to try the quick fix for the p1867 code, and while the mechanic is doing the transfer case, I walked around to check the suspension and drivetrain... Found this grease globs outside of the rear driver side axle boots. Replace axle boots? Or something worse? 20230701_155150.jpg20230701_155156.jpg20230701_155210.jpg

There is a tear in the rubber boot. Some shops would have you replace the whole axle because something else that has been damaged is hidden inside. Replace, I say.

Copy that. I guess it started to show it's age being 16yo and guessing it's still the original.

Followup question, is the inner axle boot the same as the outer boot? Local shop here gave me the inner one, said it's the same. Is it?
