Did it quite easily via forscan. Mine nearly closed on my kids several times while they were sitting on the bumper or in the trunk. Mind numbing there isn't a simple switch on the tailgate or on the surrounding trim panels that could disable it. Some have disconnected the sensors but I don't like having bare wires under a vehicle.
