Yeah I'll take that over a head gasket leaking any day.

Will the stop leak cause any damage?

Depends on how much stop leak was put into the system. Worse case is it clogs up the heater core and portions of the radiator.
You could drain some of the coolant then take the upper hose off the radiator and see how much stop leak is on the sides of the inlet and hose.

It just seems weird for this to start all of the sudden.

Well today I spent about two hours flushing the hell out of it with the water hose.

5 buckets of nasty rusty gunky coolant later it finally ran clear and I refilled it. So we will see what happens (hopefully nothing)

I'm starting to think the shop where I had it "flushed" just drained it and refilled it with God-knows what.

If you used tap water with the coolant concentrate I suggest to get it out of there quickly. Only use distilled water and anti freeze in the cooling system. If you don't you will end up replacing the heater core and radiator.

Well, I took a 30 minute trip this evening on the interstate and Lo and behold there's another puddle of brown foam floating on top of my coolant.

This is beginning to get a bit frustrating. Thinking maybe I should flush again? I googled some pictures of stop leak crud and it looks exactly like what I've got.....
