need help getting starter out

I have a 97 expedition and having trouble getting the top bolt out of the starter. I don't know if I need to take stuff out to get it???? help would be greatly appreciated thank you

I rldid mine a few months ago..to get to the top bolt I had to use about a foot of extensions on the socket wrench. Just come from the end and guide the socket over the top of the starter. I could only get about a quarter turn at a time if I remember correctly. Good luck and hope this helps

I had mine on a lift and took the RF tire off, you are at an angle coming from the front of the wheelwell so you need a long (30" at least) and head right over the starter
