I am a computer nerd, trying to bring that world to my car. I have found this, and I absolutely must try it. I am going to try a combination of these three setups:

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show-off-your-project/40410-check-out-my-ford-expedition-carpc.html

What do you guys think? I am on a budget and it will probably take me several months to a year to get everything done (everything including new speakers, subs, amp, ect) I think this is the order I'm going to go with all of this.

1) Speakers, almost all of the speakers in my car are blown so I am really going to need to replace these. I've got a bunch of stuff for sale on eBay that should help me cover the cost of these. I picked out these ones below, yeah I know they're cheap, but i'm SURE they will be an improvement over the stock ones.

2) CD Deck, the one I have now (stock) sucks. Every time I try and turn the radio up, it turns the sound down. So I want to get a single din and put it where the rear air control is (pictured in 1st link) and that shouldn't require much should it? Anyway, I picked this one out:

3a) Carputer and monitor, if I get an EEEPC it should fit perfectly in the center console where the CD Changer is (or at the time, used to be) and I will take out the stock deck and put in a 7" monitor.

3b) Whichever one I deemed to do first, the other will come after. I still have no clue what to look for when it comes to all of this stuff. I think that I want 2x 12" subs but I don't know what kind of amps or even what kind of speakers to look for.

Anyway, this is my plan for right now. What do you guys think? Somewhere during this time I would also like to replace the headlights and the grille of the car. Looking forward to responses!

as for the deck in where the rear controls go, i guess i would have to see your interior. if its like mine, i pulled the controls for the rear air and put my CB there and it fit just right....check out expy teardown thread. i think i have a pic in there. if not, i can get you one.

NICE! Thank you! I thought for sure I was going to have to use a dremel and cut the crap out of that thing. But if it fits in there that well, thats awesome!

Edit: Just looked at your thread, my console runs through that whole part.

To anyone that knows, does this seem like it would all fit together?
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/r_16444_Lanzar_MAXP154D.aspxv
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_20155_Ground_Shaker_SQP215.aspx

and then one of these amps:

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_18952_Boss_Audio_CX2000M.aspx

Would the 1 amp be enough? They also had 1200w subs that I was looking at if that amp won't be enough to cover both of those speakers. What else would I need to get this thing entirely setup?

Subs and amp I have about $300-400 planned out (including box) and deck and speakers I was hoping to spend less than $200 on that. So $500-600 for the stereo and I guess about $1000 overall including the computer stuff. Thanks for this....I am so clueless.

find a basic alpine/pioneer with USB(you'll want that for ipod/flashdrive, much better than CDs).

speakers, i'd personally amp the ones in doors with a 4channel amp if your budget will allow it, otherwise check into pioneer speakers at walmart, they are great off deck power.

subwise hit up your local craigslists for best deals on sub/amp combos, if you can avoid it, build your own box, dont get a prefab(i can help you with a design for whatever subs you buy).
