Concerning my latest purchase of a '97 xlt, I have no warm air coming out any vents no matter what position is selected.
The fan works fine, the vent/floor/def selector works (panel & floor combo kicks on ac. don't think it's supposed to there) Ac works (was replaced by the PO previous owner). The temp select knob works the door actuator fine. The correct amount of coolant is in it's jug.
He also said he replaced the timing belt and while he was at it, he replaced the water pump, even though it supposedly didn't need it.
The top radiator hose and sides of the radiator were quite cool after 45 mins of not running. The heater hoses felt hot, but that could have been from engine heat.
Possibly a plugged heater core, but because the temp gage also reads only 25% when fully warmed up, makes me think the thermostat is froze open or gone, or the incorrect one. I should check the radiator & hose when it's warmed up.
Am I missing something obvious or are there better checks that I should be doing?
