No interior lights when doors open

Most likely the drivers side door switch needs to be replaced That is most likely why the relay was removed

You may try spraying some silicon spray on the latch to see if it helps any.

And by all means leave your hammer in the tool box

I also noticed that the running board lights are not working, don't know if that would have something to do with it?

For the running board lights Check fuse #4 in the mini fuse block under the hood.

The door switch is located on the door latch
