Rear window defrost

When I cut on my rear window defrost on my 2005 expedition the light cuts on for about 2 seconds then cuts off and of corse its been raining for the past 5 days. Anybody got ant ideas why.

Sounds like the controller is timing the cycle out too quickly - or it is overamping and shutting itself off.
