I currently have them on my X and either worn out or just suck ass for my needs, very bouncy and abusive to the body. I don't do any real towing but I do have a need for the space in my X for all the equipment I haul around inside the truck.

My question is, do I need to be careful when I remove them, will the springs go off like a regular car spring or strut, or is there nothing to worry about?

Nope they are just like a coil over shock on a four wheeler, the spring is locked on the shock.

I installed them on my Expedition when I put new shocks on. I do tow quite a bit but I also carry stuff in the back all the time. I've liked them so far.
