Well I've been talking the ears off people who know me for years, hell before I even bought the Expedition I've been thinking about this.
Well I landed a 290,000 km 2000 6.8L V10, 4R100 and t-case out of an Excursion. Full harness (kinda in two pieces, that'll be a few days to extend and rebuild) and PCM.
I'm still not decided if it will land in the Expedition or my 7700 F150, but all the prep work leading up to and including pulling the old engine is the same regardless and I haven't been active at FTE in near a decade so here it lands.
It's definitely bigger than you think it'll be in person..
Engine work is on hold till I get an engine stand, found a few ones on Craigslist waiting to hear back.
Also going to use this thread as a check list as I go.
I'll add all the other V10 builds I've found and relevant info when I'm not on my cell.
Overall plans.
-Machine the cams
For a bit more street ability, neither truck can pull the weights it's built to haul, so little more fun.
-Tune/chip
Nothing crazy, but an extra hp is extra hp.
-Full engine teardown and reseal
Duh, and catch any issues before it's really hard to fix.
-Transgo street shift kit
Have one laying around, and why not?
-Rebuild transmission oil pump
Again have a kit laying around
-Install aftermarket HD torque converter
Paid $20 for it, long story
-Install full suspension lift
I have two I'm tripping over, it's about time I use one.
-Delete clutch fan
No space
-Dual electric fans
No space
-Modify CAI from 5.4l
Hurdles
Drivers exhaust dumps into driveshaft, hopefully 5" lift clearances the shaft.
Already have body lift so intake should clear firewall.
Mating 4r100 to expedition t-case, I love that sweet 4awd when weather gets ******.
PATS, PATS, PATS. It's going to probably be a issue.
Electrical rats nest repair, and extension since the PCM installs on the drivers side on the super duty and passenger for expedition.
Exhaust.
