I recently bought an '05 XLT Sport with the silver painted grille. I prefer the look of the black grilles. Does anyone have one lying around they want to get rid of? Or, does anyone want to trade thiers for the silver one?

thanks, Jon R.

You can't just sand it and paint it with black trim paint? I sprayed my gray one with the trim paint and it's been holding up fine.

Seemed like a crazy amount of work to sand all the little squares.
I'll have to take a picture of the grille after work today. It appears to be in perfect condition.

Oh, I didn't sand each individual square. I mean I tried to sand as much as I could, but you're right, it would be a ton of work. The paint has built it adhesion promotor, so it sticks pretty well, assuming you clean everything up pretty well (alcohol works.)

I understand, but still seems easier, especially if someone wanted to trade.

Here's the picture as promised...

Well, I guess it's decision time, paint or buy an Ebay cheap OE knock-off insert..? If I paint mine, then it can't be brought back to silver. Where, if I buy one, save the old one in a safe place, then I can always put the silver one back in later.

Looks great. Satin or flat black? I'm thinking painting is going to be the cheap, easy way to go.

Flat. Basically looks like "new" black plastic since it lays down rather well.
