I just completed my first oil change, and those Ford engineer's can %$#@&* and %^&*$#@!!!! and if I ever see one, I'll punch his %^&*$#@ face in! What kind of evil mind would put the oil filter there? It took me two days to get that filter off, it was locked in place......sigh......Anyway, is there an oil filter or change oil indicator light on a 1999 Eddie Bauer instrument panel? Oh God, now I've got to change my spark plugs, I really need to think about buying a bicycle.........:bawl:

Find and expy in the yard with the remote filter setup.

Get it and install, pain in the arse but once done, drain oil, reach behind drivers side bumper and remove filter. Install filer fill with oil

with out the remote kit it is a #$%@$%

Wait till you need to change the plugs or in my case pull the head.

The list of obscenities becomes impressive, even the ones from my wife.

I really don't know why the filter was on that tight, but the real problem is that there is no place to work. You can get the filter wrench on the filter, but you can't move the handle.

I've gotten annoyed and rammed a screwdriver through it before. That's the easiest method I've seen.

I've tried a bunch of different filter wrenches, but, like you say, it's the space that's the issue.

Still not found a wrench that doesn't leave my hands scraped up from reaching either down or up into the engine.
