Might be the display itself. If the module was losing power through a faulty ground or shorting it would reboot every time.

A new display goes for about 60-70 bucks CAD near me, prob cheaper for you. If you want take out the module, and the cover is snaped on, remove it. And visually inspect it, see if theres any broken tabs or something.

If you hold both buttons when you start the engine it goes into a test mode, but its only really for constant problems (like you compass isn't reading right).

It shows a bunch of values for which I had the paper which described what each one meant but I lost it. If you know anyone with access to Ford's computers they might be able to get it, I got it from a police mechanic. I don't think it'll help you though.

Actually, I got the perfect way to test it.

Do this when ready to drive for a bit when it would typically go out. Before putting the key in and starting the engine hold the mode and E/M buttons (ussually the only two) and then start the engine. It'll put this into test mode.

Drive it for a while, when the problem occurs either the display will come back in the test mode, or it will come back in the regular mode(showing milage and whatever). If it comes back in regular mode, then the module has lost power and rebooted. So theres a problem in the feed or ground. If it returns in the test mode, then you unit didn't lose power and you've got yourself a faulty module.

When you turn off the truck it kills the power to the module and thats how test mode is exited.

If its faulty you can see if you can't fix it with a soldering iron if its obvious where the problem is.
