Air conditioner blowing from defrost vent

All,

Air conditioner blows from defrost vent. ..not dash vents. I had this fixed once before at a shop but I know it is a vacuum leak in the pass. front fender. How do I fix this myself?

Replace the vacuum line.

Which vacuum line? Isn't it typically in the pass. fender?

cold air only out of defrost vents

did you ever find the vacum hose that defaults the cold air thru defrost vents only? was the hose on the right front fender? what year is your expedtion?

I also have a 2000 5.4L expedition that has the same problem with the air only through the defrost. What fender do I look under and what am I looking for?

take the battery out and look under it. your looking for a vacuume ball/line that is broken

Thanks, I took it to the dealer and they showed me where the small black plastic hose was cracked. You're right, the black vacuum line is going into the firewall behind the battery. They connected another piece of rubber hose to splice the line and it works fine now. Easy fix, now that I know what to look for.

Can you guy's help I removed my barrery and couldn't fine the hose, there was only two line back there the windshield cleaner line and one that was blanked off by a white puug, Am I looking at the wrong thing and do you have any photos please?

I'm having a terrible time finding the vac leak. I'm thinking that perhaps the line is kinked somewhere in the dash. Any ideas?

has anyone gotten any further with this problem.....my expo will blow from the vents for a while.....and then switch to the defroster vents...and then i cant get it to switch back...which is terribly annoying in south florida...pictures or commentary would be great!!!!

I have a similar problem. My 2004 NBX blows strong from the dash vents....but under heavy acceleration they cut out and it switches to the defrost vents.....is this the same problem the vacuum line?? any help would be greatly appreciated.....thanks!!!

The vacuum line in question actually comes out of the electrical center just left of the battery. ( haynes book says starter relay but i dont really know).

The vacuum line comes out of the box and goes right by the bottom, left, rear corner of the batt. Thats right where mine was broken. Slipped a piece of hose over the broke section. Success!

Need help old thread , my ac blows through windshield vents , but if I turn the car off then turn it back on ,on tthe ac or max ac it works fine. But if the car is already on and the ac is on the off position and try to put it on ac or maxs ac it stays on windshield but with ac plowing cold air at it
